Page Range Selection

For PDF to JPG conversion, you can choose which pages to convert or convert them all at once.

Available Options:

All Pages

Converts every page in the PDF to a separate JPG image. Ideal for digitizing entire documents.

Custom Range

Specify which pages to convert using page numbers or ranges. Example: "1-3, 5, 7-9" will convert pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9.

Estimated Output Size

Before converting, the tool provides an estimated output file size based on your selected settings. This helps you plan for storage and sharing.

How Estimation Works:

DPI (Resolution)

Higher DPI produces larger images. 72 DPI is for web previews, 150 DPI for standard documents, and 300 DPI for print-quality output.

Quality Setting

High quality produces larger files with more detail. Low quality uses more compression for smaller file sizes.

Output Format

PNG produces lossless images (larger files), WebP offers the best compression, and JPG provides good balance with wide compatibility.

Grayscale Option

Converting to grayscale/black & white significantly reduces file size - typically 60-70% smaller than color output.

Note: The estimated size is calculated based on typical compression ratios. Actual file sizes may vary slightly depending on the content of your PDF pages. The estimation updates in real-time as you change settings.

Quality Settings

Understanding how quality settings affect your output helps you choose the right balance between file size and image clarity.

Quality vs File Size Guide:

High Quality (Recommended)

Best for printing, archiving, or when image clarity is critical. Produces larger files but maintains all document details.

Medium Quality

Good balance for most use cases. Suitable for email sharing, web upload, or general document viewing.

Low Quality

Smallest file sizes for quick sharing or web use. Some detail may be lost due to compression.

Tip: For documents with text, use High quality with 300 DPI for best results. Screen resolution (72 DPI) is sufficient for quick previews or web display.

Download Options

After conversion, you can download your files in multiple ways depending on the number of output files. The tool uses JSZip to create ZIP archives directly in your browser for fast and efficient downloads.

Download Methods:

Individual Files

Download each converted file separately. Best when you need just a few pages or want to review each file before saving.

ZIP Archive

Download all files as a single ZIP archive with progress indicator. Recommended for multi-page documents or batch conversions. The ZIP is created client-side using JSZip for fast processing without server uploads.

Output Naming:

Converted files are named automatically based on the source file name and page number. For example: "document.pdf" with "All Pages" selected would produce "document-page-1.jpg", "document-page-2.jpg", etc.

Error Recovery

The tool includes built-in error recovery to handle failed page conversions without restarting the entire process. If any pages fail to convert, you'll be notified immediately with options to retry.

How Error Recovery Works:

Automatic Failure Detection

During conversion, each page is processed individually. If a page fails to convert (due to corruption, password protection, or other issues), the tool records the failure and continues with remaining pages instead of stopping the entire conversion.

Failed Pages Notification

After conversion completes, you'll see a clear summary showing which pages failed and why. This appears both in the progress indicator and in the preview panel, so you know exactly what to expect.

Retry Failed Pages

Instead of re-converting everything, you can click "Retry Failed Pages" to attempt converting only the failed pages. The tool supports up to 3 retry attempts per page, giving multiple chances for problematic pages to succeed.

Continue with Successful Pages

Even if some pages fail, you can download all successfully converted pages immediately. You don't need to wait for retries if you're in a hurry.

Tip: If pages consistently fail to convert, the PDF might be password-protected, corrupted, or contain non-standard elements. Try opening the PDF in another viewer to verify it's not damaged.
